KYC API: Availability of entity data in Germany

We provide access to entity data and official documents for German entities in KYC API and our related entity verification services through a real-time connection to the official Common Register Portal of the German Federal States – Handelsregisterportal.

Through Handelsregister the German judiciary authorities, i.e. the respective district courts which maintain the business registers, make available data and official filings in all federal states.  In addition to the commercial register data, Handelsregister also provides data and filings from the registers of cooperatives, partnerships and some associations.

The system of Handelsregister is providing this access through an underlying real-time connection with all the registers across the federal states. However, in some cases, these underlying connections between the district courts and Handelsregister are experiencing instability, which leads to a certain failure rate of the data and document retrieval.

Handelsregister usually officially publishes known stability issues on the website handelsregister.de.

We have observed that these instabilities typically do not impact the entire population within the affected courts. Additionally, we advise that clients schedule retries in the case of failures, as these instabilities might be temporary.
